What a visit is like
You come down from the street into the ravine, which is the way Wright meant the house to be met. The visit covers the entrance level, the double-height living room, the garden terraces and the 1926 studio.
Groups are capped at eight. Someone who knows the building leads it, and there is time at the end for questions and for standing still. Ninety minutes, give or take.
It is a lived-in house rather than a museum, so some rooms are not on the route and that changes from month to month.
Before you come
The route involves three floors and outdoor steps on uneven ground, with no lift. If stairs are difficult, write to us — a shortened ground-level visit can usually be arranged.
Photography for personal use is welcome. Tripods, drones and commercial shoots need separate arrangement.

Tell us when you'd like to come and how many of you there are. We reply to every request, usually within a few days, with the dates we can offer.
Questions
Can I just turn up?
No. The house is a private residence and there is no visitor entrance. Everyone comes through a reservation, which also lets us keep groups small enough that the rooms still work.
How far ahead should I book?
Dates open about a month in advance and fill quickly in spring and autumn. If your dates are fixed, ask early and tell us so in the message.
Is it suitable for children?
We ask that visitors be twelve or older. The stairs are steep, the balcony is open, and much of what makes the house interesting is easier to appreciate at that age.
Can I photograph inside?
Yes, for your own use. Tripods, lighting, drones and anything commercial need to be arranged in advance — say so in your request and we'll talk it through.
What happens if it rains?
The garden part of the route gets slippery, so we may shorten it or move your date. We'll be in touch the day before if that looks likely.
Where does the money go?
Into the fabric of the building. Visit contributions and gifts fund block casting, structural repair and the garden. The current work is listed here.
